Aleqs Notal belongs to a generation of artists building on nearly 2 decades of experience in their field. Based in Paris/France, this underground music enthusiast could already be found behind the decks in the mid- 2000s.
Combining influences from Detroit and Chicago, the sound that defines him, he reflects his early and endless fascination for the sharpest percussions. 2014 saw the release of his first extended project as Aleqs Notal, on ClekClekBoom Recordings. After releasing the deep and powerful EP on Michael Zucker label Finale Sessions from Orlando in 2016, 2017 saw Aleqs Notal's affirmation on the international scene with "Ascending Nodes", on Patrice Scott label from Detroit, Sistrum Recordings. Also notable is his EP with Nigerian percussionist Wura Samba called The "Paris-Lagos Soundscapes" out on Phonogramme Recordings. Notal has been carrying out his activity of DJ sharing the stage with some of the most renowned DJs and producers like
Larry Heard, Moodymann, Patrice Scott, Mike Huckaby and Paul Johnson. His mark is also spreading worldwide with frequent shows on Rinse France and playing at venues like
Panorama Bar, Tresor and Fabric London. Now Aleqs Notal regularly releases his music on international labels like Sistrum Recordings, Phonogramme, Visions, and more. He continues to share his vibes and energies on frequent gigs and radio shows. In 2020 he launched his label, Industrial Light (I.L. Recordings) releasing his productions as well as various other notable artists.
